“Constant Brightness Output Control“function provides constant picture brightness, and simplifies the use of multiple projectors within the same installation. Using the edge blending function several images from different projectors can be blended together to create a single large projection. To achieve this each projector is allocated one image section. The integrated edge blending function of the PLV-HF15000L digitally adjusts the brightness at the borders of each overlapped image section. In combination with the colour matching function, integrated edge blending creates a large homogeneous image with consistent overlaps between each of the individual image segments.

The picture in picture and the picture by picture function enables a simultaneous presentation of different content. For a short break during presentation, or where a backup projector is used a mechanical shutter can be activated. Horizontal and Vertical Lens shift and integrated corner keystone correction allow flexibility in positioning the projector, and the facility to correct image distortion. Similar to its smaller W6 and W8 cousins, the new RLM-W12 offers WUXGA resolution (1920×1200) combined with low operating cost and power consumption. Thanks to its standard 3D capabilities, low noise level and 11,500 lumens light output, the RLM-W12 is a perfect fit for conference auditoriums, lecture halls, infotainment applications and event venues. The new projector will be commercially available from May 2012 onwards.

“By adding a brighter unit to our RLM projector family, we can now cover the entire spectrum of silent projectors for fixed installations, ranging from 6,000 to 11,500 lumens light output,” says Alexis Skatchkoff, product manager at Barco. “In this way, we are better able to meet customer demands for more brightness out of compact projector systems.”

As the RLM-W12 comes with standard active 3D capabilities, easy play-out of 3D content is guaranteed. The HDX-W14 comes with a 14,000 lumens light output, a WUXGA (1920×1200) resolution and active 3D capabilities. It features controls through a user-friendly, built-in LCD screen with a preview mode, and control options through wired and wireless IP. Furthermore, users can control the projector through new technologies such as tablet PCs and smart phones.

“The development of the HDX was heavily influenced by three key areas where Barco has gained considerable expertise,” explains Chris Colpaert, Strategic Marketing Director of Barco’s pro AV business, “We carried over our experience in 3D from our digital cinema portfolio and fused it with our intimate knowledge of what the events industry will expect from projectors now and in the coming years. For example, the HDX is compatible with the 3G protocol, gearing it up for lightning-fast, future video transmission.”

“The HDX also makes use of Barco’s advanced image processing capabilities found in our benchmark ImagePRO. This boosts creativity and decreases the time it takes to get sources on screen the way users want,” continues Mr. Colpaert, “In addition, the HDX is equipped with native blending and geometry correction for unusual screen shapes and sizes.”

While it is a heavy-duty three-chip DLP projector, Barco’s HDX platform is 25% more compact than comparable solutions, and consumes up to 30% less power. Its modular design, consisting of just five building blocks, was conceived for quick servicing.

“The HDX builds on the legacy of its predecessor, the SLM-R12+ projector, which has long been one of our most successful and reliable products in the events market,” says Mr. Colpaert, “So when we designed the HDX, we knew we had to offer a product that was just as good. By making the HDX line smarter, more compact and more feature-rich, I think we succeeded in doing just that.”

With an enhanced contrast, quick and creative stacking options as well as built-in warping capabilities for curved surfaces, Barco’s RLM-W8 is a versatile choice for mid- to large-sized venues. In addition, it features blending technology to create seamless composite images across a canvas of any size. Early 2010, Barco launched the RLM-W6 as its first Barco Elements three-chip DLPTM projector in a single-chip DLPTM price range.
